NEPTUNE, N.J. -- May 19, 2016 -- Coltrin and Associates conceived, developed and executed on the idea for an event bringing to the forefront the timely and critical issue of the Opioid Addiction Epidemic. Utilizing its relationship with Governor Christie, Coltrin was able to bring together on one stage a panel of experts, along with Gov. Christie, to shine the light on this problem and to offer possible solutions and policy proposals.
The panel was moderated by Jeremy Abate of Scientific American. Included on stage was Behshad Sheldon, CEO of Braeburn Pharmaceuticals, a manufacturer that is working on a subdermal implant called Probuphine that can deliver a six-month supply of medication for recovering addicts.
Completing the panel were Dr. Andrea Barthwell, who was former President George W. Bush's deputy director for demand reduction at the Office of National Drug Control Policy, and Leonard Campanello, the chief of the Gloucester Police Department in Massachusetts, which recently rolled out a diversion program to put addicts seeking recovery into treatment.
More than 200 medical and law enforcement professionals attended the event, with many participating the the question and answer portion of the forum.
